How can I support the Mission of the IBF?

There are two main ways you can support the mission of advancing the administration of justice and understanding of the law through philanthropy, education and service.

The gifts of talent. The first way is to donate your time to our many wonderful opportunities sponsored by the IBF like Ask A Lawyer, Bankruptcy Help Line or Legal Line. You can contact the Indianapolis Bar Association at 269.2000 for more information on those events.

The gift of treasure. The other way to support the IBF mission is through a financial contribution to the IBF. You can donate at any one of our giving levels and you can specify your gifts for specific programs or simply make a general donation. Also, you can donate in memory of someone or in celebration of someone for their accomplishments within the legal profession.

You May Designate Your Gift to the Following Funds:

  • The Honorable Paul H. Buchanan, Jr. Ask a Lawyer Endowment Fund. The income from this fund solely supports Ask a Lawyer, a quarterly event in which residents from across Indianapolis receive free legal advice.
  • Pro Bono Initiatives. Gifts to this program enable the Indianapolis Bar Association to focus on legal pro bono funding needs and programs.
  • The Neil E. Shook Scholarship Endowment Fund. The income from this Fund solely supports two scholarships each year. One is designated for a first or second year IU Indianapolis law student who has expressed interest in creditor rights; the other will support attendance at the Annual Bench Bar Conference by a lawyer who has been in practice less than five years.
  • Foundation Program Grants. Each year the Foundation provides more than $50,000 in grants to worthy applicants who support community-wide programs that further the Foundation's mission.
  • Endowment Fund. This Fund provides for the Foundation's ability to advance its mission well into the future. Its use is permanently restricted to support projects under the supervision of the Foundation's Board of Directors.
  • The Rosalie F Felton Scholarship Endowment Fund. In memory of the former IBA and IBF Executive Director, this Fund supports an annual scholarship for a first or second year IU Indianapolis law student who has demonstrated commitment to the legal profession and is working while in law school.
  • Unrestricted Gifts. These very necessary gifts enable the Indianapolis Bar Foundation's board of directors to designate donations to where they are needed most. Your gift to the Indianapolis Bar Foundation is fully tax deductible.
The Indianapolis Bar Foundation is a charitable organization as defined by Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
